Who must be certified? Any person who is privately employed and required as a condition of employment to carry a lethal weapon must be certified. Examples of
private employees are: security officers. amored truck guards, alarm response guards, night watchman & private investigators.
What is a lethal weapon? Any weapon calculated to produce death or serious bodily harm is considered a lethal weapon. The most common examples                
are: pistols, revolvers, billy clubs, nightsticks, rifles and shotguns. 
What is the purpose of "Lethal Weapons Certifications"? It is evidence that a person to whom it is issued has complied with the "Lethal Weapons Training Act"
It is not a license to carry a firearm. Licenses to carry a firearm are issued by local authorities.
What are the requirements for certification? *The applicant must be at least 18 years old and submit the required application. *The applicant must pass            
a psychological evaluation which is valid for 6 months. * The applicant must pass a physical evaluation which is valid for 6 months and includes but is not limited 
to: neurological condition, cardiovascular condition, intoxicants, visual acuity, audio acuity and other conditions(see police web site for details). *The applicant
cannot be convicted, have pleaded guilty or nolo contendere to a disqualifying criminal offense, which includes, but not limited to, the following crimes: murder,
robbery, voluntary manslaughter, recklessly endangering another person, rape, burglary, arson, terroristic threats, aggravated assault, kidnapping,
and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. * The applicant must pay a $30.00 fee to receive their certification card. *The applicant must satisfy a training    
 requirement which includes completion of the established course or approval of the waiver of training.
How long is the certification card valid? The certification card is valid for 5 years unless revoked or invalidated. This information has been taken from the

HOW DO I GET MY APPROVAL LETTER?
1. Complete a background check with the Penna. State Police(fingerprints). For locations, hours and cost please call (215)560-6200. This fee charged is
paid directly to the state.
2. Register for the psych & physical exams which is given right here at the school. These exams book up quickly. The cost for both exams are $ 185.00,   
and requires pre-payment(this fee is paid directly to the school).
When all 3 steps are successfully completed and approved, your letter of approval will come to you in the mail. You can monitor the progress of your tests
